Last Wednesday night, It came from the Blog got together to Party like Pilgrims. We got some Pilgrim’s Bounty achievements and won some loot. Unfortunately, the Guild Roster gets buggy when there are more than 500 members. So I don’t know exactly how many showed up, but I estimate it at around 240 over the course of the event.
Blog Overlords Adam Holisky, Michael Gray, Matt Low and Kelly Aarons were there. Adam held a trivia quiz and gave out some loot codes to speedy contestants. And, of course, I was there, but I am the brood Blog Mother. We had a great time and really enjoyed running around with everyone. And of course, we took pictures.
We have more events planned soon. Expect a Battleground Bonanza, a Hogger/Faire excursion and some Feast of Winter Veil fun all in December. We hope you’ll join us!

Today families across the U.S. gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving, argue about politics, and accidentally set the garage on fire while attempting to deep-fry their turkey. Roguehunter of <Gnomeland Security> on Norgannon snapped this shot of a less-than-perfect Thanksgiving meal the other day. It seems that the two turkey guests didn’t appreciate their dad being the main course.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We’d love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “Azeroth” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val’kyr on mounts,

Well now, here’s an interesting thought to consider this weekend: Zemeny on Barthilas suggests that maybe it’s time to do away with a gear mechanic that Blizzard has used since Diablo. He thinks that set bonuses deserve to be put out to pasture. He doesn’t go into his reasoning much, but we can probably fill that in; not only do set bonuses tend to either be overpowered or too weak (as in, you usually need to have a specific set bonus to make or break a class), but they make gear choices uneven, usually leaving you to choose between an upgrade or a set bonus. Zemeny suggests we do away with the whole thing — create one set bonus per tier, leaving upgrades for the gear itself, or just turn the set bonus into an extra gem or inscription slot and give us more power that way.
Ghostcrawler shows up in the thread and says that the game would be pretty boring if set bonuses weren’t included — I presume he means that you’d just upgrade your gear according to iLvl, and that would be that. He even says that he wishes the tiers varied more, but

Welcome back to the Scattered Shots, the weekly hunter class column. This week we begin our series “Picking the right hunter loot.” Where we will review what truly makes something qualify as hunter loot, and not just loot hunters can use. We’ll also review the drops off of each major raids starting with Naxxrammas and ending with the PTR Patch 3.3 raid, Ice Crown. So join me, Eddie Carrington, aka Brigwyn from The Hunting Lodge, as we explore what loot we should put on our watch lists.
Things on the patch 3.3 PTR are getting closer and closer to wrapping up, so I thought it might be a good idea to review hunter stats and how they help you select the right gear for you. In the past we have talked about how to use iLevel to do a gear check. Also, we’ve talked about how to use the different hunter tools and resources out there to select an upgrade for your hunter.
What we really haven’t talked about was what makes up good hunter gear, and in each of the different raids in Wrath of The Lich King makes up some good hunter gear. And a recent comment on the

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com’s daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
For the curious, the original title of today’s edition of The Queue was “The Queue: Adam if you skip me and write a Queue today I’m going to shiv you IRL because I’m seriously not still asleep and will have it written in a couple of hours.” Luckily, he didn’t skip me, so he gets to live another day.
Terethall asked…
“Will the newer 5-mans (ToC and the Icecrown Citadel 5-mans) be included in the random dungeon tool in 3.3?
Because it seems like a huge difficulty difference when you could go from extremely easy instances like Heroic CoS to extremely difficult (comparatively) Heroic instances like ToC and the IC instances.”
Yes, they will be included, but Blizzard has mentioned here and there that the tool will be smart about that sort of thing. You’ll need a certain level of gear for it to throw you at Heroic Trial of the Crusader or Heroic Pit of

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is coming. Sometime. We’re at that point now where BlizzCon has been over for a few months and Blizzard is being pretty stingy with new information in the meantime. It’s a definite dry spell, but the same thing happened with Wrath — and then the Friends and Family Alpha began, and all bets were off.
And while the F&F Alpha for Cataclysm hasn’t started yet (believe me, we’d know), that doesn’t mean you can’t stay informed. There’ve been bits and pieces of new info released, in PC Gamer magazine, on Twitter, and elsewhere on the internet. And we like to keep track of that! What’s come out is mostly new information on what’s going to happen to Azeroth. And we just recently decoded this planning map of Cataclysm zones, which is where some information comes from.
So what this article is meant to be is a compendium of all known changes to old-world zones that’ll occur in Cataclysm, sorted by continent and zone. We’ll update whenever new information is released.

Every Wednesday, Chase Christian of Encrypted Text invites you to enter the world of shadows, as we explore the secrets and mechanics of the rogue class. This week, we talk about leveling a rogue from level 51 to level 70.
If you’ve ever leveled a rogue (or really any class) to 80 before, you know that there’s certain spots in the leveling curve that can get downright boring. We play like a “dual wielding warrior” far too often, preferring to simply walk up to enemies and Slice and Dice our way to a kill. Rogues have a variety of skills, but it seems like Sinister Strike is really the only one worth pushing. Where’s the fun in spamming one ability mindlessly until the enemy falls over from boredom?
Luckily for us, all of that ends at level 50 and above. We receive some of our core abilities via our 41-point talents, and each spec becomes a completely different playstyle from what you’ve been using for the past 50 levels. In addition, we pick up some of the clutch PvP abilities that were added in TBC that allowed rogues to compete in the arena

New around here? WoW Rookie points WoW’s newest players to the basics of a good start in the World of Warcraft. Send us a note to suggest a WoW Rookie topic, and be sure to visit WoW.com’s WoW Rookie Guide for links to all our tips, tricks and how-to’s.
Theorycrafters and experienced players, go away – no really, /shoo! Today’s WoW Rookie is for brand new players or players who are embarking on a new alt with absolutely no idea which end is up. The topic: what stats should you look for on gear as you level up? With XP and levels moving so quickly these days, it’s not a topic that bears deep reflection or rooting through gear lists online in search of exceptional pieces. Any time you devote to researching and going after specific gear will be rendered moot by equal time spent questing – ding, better gear at your disposal! Still, concentrating on the right set of primary stats gives you a solid foundation for steady, predictable game play and supports experimentation with different spells, specs and tactics.
The early levels (and by that, we mean
