Forum post of the day: Why did you /gquit

There are many different reasons for why we join guilds: to raid; to meet girls (well, not usually to meet girls). We also have numerous reasons why we quit guilds. I was kind of amazed by Oreooze of Dalaran’s list of reasons for why he /gquit. 1. He wasn’t congratulated on his achievements. 2. He doesn’t trust people online. 3. He didn’t get invited to raids. 4. He didn’t want to get Ventrilo he prefers not to use voice chat. It sounds to me that the OP was not terribly interested in being a part of a team. I have to admit, I would have a hard time inviting people to raids that absolutely refused to get into Vent. I’m sorry, my friend, but real time communication is very important to success in raids. It is positively infuriating when someone wipes a raid because they missed an important instruction. I’m sure that some guilds can get by raiding without voice chat, but it’s very frustrating not to have 24 people who can listen in and work with the team. I’m sure the OP knew that his response would get lambasted by responders.

The Queue: Hodgepodge

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider’s daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today. Lots of good questions this week, and like yesterday’s Queue, we have a full set of them today as well. Boreddruid asked… “Is there any particular time that my guild should start 10-man Ulduar hard modes?” Once you’re geared and know the fights start the hard modes. Some might be easier than others. Either way though, you’ll want to have the basic fights down very solidly before you begin working on hard modes. Don’t try to run before you can walk. You’ll just fall flat on your face and become grumpy. Medros asked… “I was wondering if there was any new recipes learned via research in alchemy or inscription added in 3.1? I had stopped doing the researches before hand, and forget if there was new stuff added to make the uses worthwhile.” Not for alchemy. For inscription, you’ll want to try to get your hands on the Book of

Maintenance extended further for many realms [updated]

In completely unsurprising news, extended maintenance for the realms that were undergoing it has been additionally extended today. These realms were suppose to be brought up at noon PDT today. The latest news is that there is wow goldno current ETA for them to come back, but that we should get another update by 1 PM PDT (at which time I fully anticipate they will tell us to expect another update by 2 PM PDT). The good news is they’re doing hardware upgrades, so when the realms come back up, they should be better than before. The affected realms are: Aegwynn, Akama, Aman’Thul, Arathor, Azjol-Nerub, Barthilas, Blackrock, Bloodscalp, Bonechewer, Boulderfist, Bronzebeard, Caelestrasz, Chromaggus, Crushridge, Daggerspine, Darkspear, Dath’Remar, Draenor, Dragonblight, Dragonmaw, Draka, Drak’thul, Dreadmaul, Dunemaul, Eitrigg, Eldre’Thalas, Feathermoon, Firetree, Frostmane, Frostmourne, Frostwolf, Garithos, Gundrak, Gurubashi, Hakkar, Jubei’Thos, Khaz Modan, Khaz’goroth, Kil’jaeden, Kilrogg, Korgath, Kul Tiras, Malorne, Mug’thol,

Blizzard fills out the BlizzCon site

We covered the ticket FAQ for BlizzCon a few days ago, but there is more news up on Blizzard’s official site about the event we all want to attend later this year. They’ve got an early list of developer panels to browse through, and there are sessions planned, as you’d expect, for Diablo III, Starcraft II, and World of Warcraft (though there aren’t any surprises — if they are going to do a “next expansion” demo panel, obviously we won’t know until we look in the programs that weekend). Zarhym has also posted links to the usual contests, tournaments, and information on how to order up the DirecTV coverage. Unfortunately, it’s all pretty rote — these are basically skeleton pages from what Blizzard did last year, and there’s no actual information specific to BlizzCon ‘09: what the DirecTV purchase might get you, or any new events coming up. But if you haven’t been to BlizzCon before, these pages will start giving you some idea of what you’ll find there, from the lore and art panels (hint: any panel

Sunday Morning Funnies: A murder of crows and a crew of dwarfs

Happy Mother’s Day to all you WoW Moms, and for all you kids who might have forgotten, you’d better go say it now while you’ve just been reminded. Come back though, because I have a nice list of comics waiting, as well as a (mostly) friendly gnome controversy. Awkward Zombie: Deadfall. I laughed out loud. Cru the Dwarf is being pursued, and an interrogation is underway. Dark Legacy Comics: Under the World. Experience Points: He’s falling in love, and starting to enjoy the fishing dailies. Flintlocke vs the Horde: A Plan for Vengeance, part 2. GU Comics: It Still Figures. Fancy a little gnome controversy? If you’re confused, click back a comic, or check out last week’s Sunday Morning Funnies and read through some of the comments. Check out the latest from LFG. NoObz: Dayz of our Lives. Check out the latest from Teh Gladiators. Two Lumps: The Adventures of Ebenezer and Snooch. Snooch is playing WoW, in his own way. NPC: Puppyslayer. World of Warcraft, eh? is back, after a three-week hiatus!

GC’s happy with healing in Ulduar

Ghostcrawler has appeared in two different threads talking about healing today, and the gist of it is that he’s happy. He’s happy with healing and the way it works in Ulduar: there’s a good variety between boss fights and phases, there are intense moments and pauses in the action, and he says they’ve got things to a point where they like wow goldthem. Later, he says that while in Naxx, you don’t really have to warn the healer too much (you can basically tell them to heal the MT and leave it at that), Ulduar requires healers to get into the rhythm — sometimes go all out, and sometimes hold back. He does say that too much mana is still an issue for them, and if anything gets nerfed in that department, Replenishment will. But he doesn’t expect too many nerfs for a while. That doesn’t mean, of course, that the big healing update is out the window — GC still hints that there are more changes in store for healing, and we’d bet coppers to gold that there are both mechanic changes and possibly even a hero class due for healers

Myndflame launches the Adventures of Puff and Lilpuff audio series

If you’re a follower of the “Illegal Danish” series, you’ve probably already encountered Puff and Lilpuff. The elf and gnome are two key characters in Myndflame’s comedy, and they make for an interesting pair. In order to help reach out to both their fans and the machinima community, Myndflame is launching a new audio-based series based on the character, called The Adventures of Puff and Lilpuff. Myndflame will take emails and answer them daily. The plan is to set up an interactive format between their listeners and the creators themselves. This innovative dialogue will help shape the series, according to the Myndflame site. As the whole project grows and develops, Myndflame says they will reach out to other, well-known machinimists to get them involved in Puff and Lilpuff. The above clip is the pilot episode, though the series already has three episodes completed. At this rate of creation, Puff and Lilpuff could turn into a mainstay of every WoW player’s daily routine. I think it’s a very interesting format, since a lot of machinima and

Mountain Dew Game Fuel website revealed, counting down

We announced Mountain Dew Game Fuel quite awhile ago now, but it wasn’t until recently that we’ve seen the official Game Fuel website. As you can see in the picture above, when you visit the site you’re greeted with a countdown. The countdown says you can ’start earning tokens’ when the countdown hits 0, which I assume means we’ll be wow goldable to get our grubby nerd hands on the soda itself in just under 9 days. Unless they have some odd, magical way of gaining tokens beyond buying and drinking Game Fuel. Players with any interest in PC gaming or WoW swag at all will be pretty impressed with who they have on board for the prizes they’ll supposedly be giving away every 15 minutes. J!NX handles most of the official WoW clothing, and Alienware… well, I’ve never actually used an Alienware product, but at least their stuff looks cool. That’s a good thing, right? So far there’s no evidence of those battle bots we saw being attached to the Game Fuel at all on that website, but there’s that whole convoluted saying

Latest Upper Deck loot cards revealed, including El Pollo Grande

Boubouille over at MMO Champion has once again been ferreting around in the patch files and he’s discovered the next set of loot from Upper Deck’s next TCG expansion Field of Heroes which is due out on 30th June. There is a legend of El Pollo Grande, the scariest chicken in all of Azeroth, the black chicken of death. For years he has been the stuff of myth, summonable only by Niby the Almighty during a Felwood quest chain. Now, however, he has once again returned, this time as a mount. Yes, you heard me right, a giant chicken mount. This El Pollo Grande is not as dark or mean as his namesake, instead looking like a regular — albeit giant — chicken and will be an epic land mount. So if you’ve not yet reached level 60, then consider this your motivation. Also in the cards (see what I did there?) are an ogre pinata (which I’m surmising will be a BoP item with no charges, like the Goblin Weather Machine). Finally, for those of you who walked the Path of Illidan, there’s the Path of Cenarius which leaves flowers in your wake. Nice.

May’s Brew of the Month: Springtime Stout

It’s a new month and the new brew is here! May’s Brew of the Month is a very simple Springtime Stout with a familiar side effect. When you drink one of your drinks, you have a chance to proc the buff called ‘Flower Child.’ The buff only lasts wow goldten seconds or so, and as you run around with the buff, flowers pop up underfoot. Herbalists, you’ve seen something like this before. I try to give little factoids on the real life brews some of these are named after (such as the fact that Pilsners shouldn’t exist in Azeroth), but stouts aren’t very exotic, overall! A stout is a very dark, very strong sort of ale, and seems just like the sort of thing Dwarves would be mailing out regularly. I don’t know about that whole ‘flower child’ thing, though. Seems more like something Night Elves would do to their ale.
